Sand Blasting

Sand blasting, also called shot blasting or abrasive blasting, is a technological process of treating the surface of various, usually hard, materials with a stream of fine particles (abrasive particles). The most commonly used abrasives for hard materials are steel shot, silica sand, corundum, steel grit, white cast iron grit or slag.

Of the above abrasives, we use silica sand exclusively.

Basic surface cleaning grades according to ČSN EN ISO 8501-1

  • Sa 3 - Sand blast cleaning on clean metal. All visible traces of scale, rust and other impurities are removed. The surface shows a uniform metallic appearance.
  • Sa 2,5 - Sand blast cleaning on nearly clean metal. Removes visible scale, rust and other contaminants. Any remaining traces of soiling will appear only as light spots in the form of areas or bands.
  • Sa 2 - Sand blast cleaning. Visible non-stick scale, rust and other contaminants shall be removed. All residues shall adhere firmly to the substrate.
  • St 2 - Hand and mechanized tool cleaning. Poorly adhering scale, rust and other contaminants shall be removed.
  • St 3 - Manual and mechanised tool cleaning. Similar to St2, but the surface must have a distinct metallic sheen.
